Lucky Dog – the aftermath

Uncategorized Comments Off on Lucky Dog – the aftermath

Well, it turned out to be a great night, with about 250 people bringing in the year of the dog down at the Mandarin Cub. The SingStar Lounge proved very popular with all the wannabes and a frisky couple near the end of the night. Red Peugeot started the night with his “oriental”, “dog” & “lucky” themed tunes. I dropped some cheesy disco (Village People, Donna Summer), S.A.W styles such as Bananarama, and some Canto Pop. At midnight we counted down (forgot to do it in Chinese) and let off some popper streamer things. We were meant to play the midnight year of the dog theme song but unfortunately, it stuffed up. The song was “Who let the Dogs Out”, so we’ll have to wait another 12 years to hear that again. Enari dropped some awesome krunk, hip hop and party tunes that had the dancefloor going wild and then Dave played old school dance classics, disco and hip house until we were too tired and sent everyone home.

Recloose – Live @ Beck’s Bar

general Comments Off on Recloose – Live @ Beck’s Bar

The best surprise at the beginning of the night was to bump into 2 old school friends in the queue. I never expected to see them at this gig (because they’re not into Detroit techno), but I guess they thought it would be something interesting to check out and it was advertised in the Sydney Festival guide as “jazz”. Anyway, Deepchild played a nice warm up set as we arrived, I really like their song “What’s Going Wrong”. It started to rain so the tent really filled up. Ahh, “This is our City – IN SUMMER!”. The DJ/producer known as Recloose (Matt), called the band, Recloose. As I’ve know of him before he got this great NZ band together, it was a bit weird. Anyway, they played lots of funky tunes from Hiatus On the Horizon + others, my favourite of course was the final song, Dust. That’s a TUNE! 🙂

It was hot sweaty work, cos the air-con broke! I was so nervous at first but it ended up being lots of fun to play these tracks and a real spin out to see DJs that “I” normally dance to, dancing to my tunes! Respect! See pics here or here on ITM.
