The best surprise at the beginning of the night was to bump into 2 old school friends in the queue. I never expected to see them at this gig (because they’re not into Detroit techno), but I guess they thought it would be something interesting to check out and it was advertised in the Sydney Festival guide as “jazz”. Anyway, Deepchild played a nice warm up set as we arrived, I really like their song “What’s Going Wrong”. It started to rain so the tent really filled up. Ahh, “This is our City – IN SUMMER!”. The DJ/producer known as Recloose (Matt), called the band, Recloose. As I’ve know of him before he got this great NZ band together, it was a bit weird. Anyway, they played lots of funky tunes from Hiatus On the Horizon + others, my favourite of course was the final song, Dust. That’s a TUNE!
