She does not have dark skin lol, she's just dark olive, you make her sound she's african or somthing. They have lighten her up a little. I know her very well, and i'm Mauritian with light skin.

I went to high school with DJ Havana Brown aka Angelique Meunier. Nice girl. I think what pisses me off so much about her is the way she is portrayed in most of her images. Angelique is quite dark skinned with amazing eyes that really suit her. Her images have made her look blond and fair skinned. You would hardly think she has Mauritian blood in her.

I'm annoyed at that because i find it inherently racist. I cannot understand why she has undergone such an image change that denies what she looks like in real life.
It doesn't make sense.

As for her music, i have yet to listen to it. I'm sure it's good. I guess she'll join one of the few kids that made something of themselves after high school.

Good on her for finally getting famous. She's been trying to for years now, first starting as a model, then making a very brief appearance on Neighbours, and then moving to England to try and make it as a singer. She finally made it big as a "model DJ." Kudos to her.

I've got nothing against the girl, but to be dubbed the #1 female dj in australia is a bit much, when there's so many more skilled female dj's out there, who do their thing for the love of the music, not for fame.

Hey, I'm from Sydney, love RnB, love good dj's!! Unfortunately Havana Brown's not one of them...
Rozie you are right, she's portrayed as a pin up girl. Heard she was model that couldn't make it, so she went "model DJ". Her boyfriend was a DJ that couldn't make it & is her manager. Together they make a great team, she looks the part & he pre-mixes for her. He actually mixed her "mixtape". Hey i'm not hating, this info comes from DJ's that know their stuff - cuz they can't be fooled. Good on her for making money but credit should be given to female dj's that really represent, like Fly Girl Tee & DJ D - now they got real skills!

Dear Keith,

Isn’t it funny that your thread was stopped in its tracks once somebody said that DJ Havana Brown puts on a great show.

Looks like my Havana Brown thread is not dead anymore.

Thanks for your comments, I thought long and hard about whether to approve them or not. If you had come to my house and started saying those mean things to my face, I really would not have like it. As I have this blog on the www, I guess the front door is open for anyone to have a look inside and throw things at me. Of course, I am entitled to my opinion and you are to yours.
To answer some of your questions:

Don’t you dress like a ho? No. Oh my goodness.

No, I do not dress like a ho. I find it unflattering and risky.

Maybe you don’t dress like anyone worth noticing?

I have been known to wear some very interesting outfits that many people have complimented.

You sound like any other Aussie infected by “tall poppy” syndrome. Well done Rozie.

I don't have tall poppy syndrome. I love Kylie.

Have you anything else credited to your name other than this blog? Are you doing anything worth buying?

I previously owned an independant record label that supported talented Australian electronic artists, including the Aria award winning Pnau.
I have a zine credited to my name, and I sold them for $3 each.

What have you done Keith that's been credited to you or that's worth buying? I hope you haven't got "DJ Havana Brown's PR Agent" to your credit, because you're doing a pretty bad job of it.

I guess if you have average expectations, you turn out less than average and don’t like anyone better than average. Tell me next about your NYE. I’d love to hang out with you.

On new years eve, I went to a dinner party with good friends and ate a lot. Do you like seafood?

Do you get your jollies seeing anything that exceeds your low expectations? Do you get excited by television shows that show at 2-3 in the morning? I bet those show really excite you. That’s OK. Think of the others you have in company.

I don't get my jollies when something is above my low expectations except if it's Johnny Depp getting his gear off in a film.

I don't like those shows that start at 2am in the morning, I was in the emergency room at Prince of Wales hospital earlier this year and one of those acne treatment ads with Jessica Simpson was on. I found it to be extremely boring.

Have a great day Rozie.

Actually you ruined it for me. But I guess that's what you were wanting to do. Thanks.

Is this about DJ Havana Brown? I wish her all the best for her career as a world famous DJ. It is something I would have like to have been too.

Regards,
Australian Rozie

I've never heard of her - but I don't listen to jukebox R'n'B.

Can she drop mix and cut a mean scratch? I'm guessing that if she played at The Bongo Virus NYE gig then she was playing balls deep R'n'B - but perhaps there's more to her record collection.

Any online mixes? Bueller.

I just typed in DJ Havana Brown into Google (because I am a fan) and stumbled on your opinion. It's not like I "stumbled" on your inspiring, informed or popular opinion, but stumbled on just another person that exists called Rozie in Australia.

Hi Rozie, I have seen DJ Havana Brown perform many times both in Melbourne + Sydney and she is awesome!!! Im a big Urban Music fan and attend the clubs on a regular basis and Havana Brown is a regular at most of the good venues. I also attended the Bongo Virus event on NYE and again Havana Brown rocked the night with her set leading up to the countdown. She is very attractive and looks like a model, but dont let that fool you, she knows how to work a crowd. Im a fan!!

Happy New Year Rozie (& Dave). I agree with your theory, I'm not expecting a lot from NYE. Especially since it's likely to dip below zero deg C tonight.
Hope yours was cool (no pun intended)
